Day SEVEN!

Day Seven Summary
Sunday, July 22nd, 2001

Another long day! We got up at 6am, ate breakfast, and then got into the vans for the 2 hour ride to the Jordan River Church in Wheatfield, AZ. The church is a small one with a capacity of about fifty people.

The service was in progress when we arrived and we were warmly greeted by the pastor and congregation. We sang familar songs, and songs we knew but that sounded very different in Navajo. We performed most of our dramas and dances, with several of our team members providing testimonies between each event. After the service was over, we went next door to the fellowship hall where facepainting and balloon animals were provided for the Navajo children of the church and neighborhood. EVERYONE had a great time.

We cleaned up all of the spilled paint and exploded balloons, shared many hugs, and got back in the vans for a two hour ride to the Canyon De Chelly National Park, which we were told had vistas that rivaled the Grand Canyon. They were right! We ate lunch picnic style, and then toured the park from an overlook. We could see six hundred feet straight down to the canyon floor. We also saw from a distance the ruins of ancient cliff dwellings, once occupied by Anasazis ("The Ancient Ones"), locally called the Basket Makers. What incredible views!

The four hour ride back was complicated by overheated engines and frequent bathroom breaks, and we arrived back exhausted but safe, and happy to be back at the Many Waters Mission. We were served a tasty spagetti and meatballs dinner, and cleaned up in time for an informal worship service led by Cedarbrook's very own Brandon and Daniel Conroy. Some free time was follwed by bedtime for everyone but the leadership staff.

Tommorow we will be split up into several crews to finish the outhouses and picnic tables, more church painting at Blackwater Springs, and a crew to stay here at Many Waters Mission for painting and repairs.

We will also TRY to provide more audio interviews, workload and time permitting. One thing God is teaching all of us here is to be flexible! Please remember all of us in your prayers.
